Our new Beeswax Bars are made from pure yellow beeswax and olive oil. Each bar weighs 3.2 oz and measures approx. 2″x3″.
Simply paint your 1st coat if needed, a contrasting color works best and then lightly rub the beeswax bar over your surface that you want distressed. Think about where things naturally distress such as corners, edges and around handles.
Once you have spread the beeswax, paint on your 2nd coat of paint (no need to wait for the beeswax to dry). It works best if you paint in nice long even strokes and don’t go back and forth over the surface repeatedly. You can also spray your paint over the beeswax. You can do a 3rd coat of paint if needed.
After your paint is dry, take your choice of sanding device and run it over the entire surface. Anywhere that the beeswax was placed with resist the surface and the paint will “chip” in those areas to create a distressed surface.
Wipe your surface clean of dust and paint chips and seal as usual.
Some helpful tips!
A little goes a long way so be careful and only lightly touch the surface with the bar.
If its your 1st time using this technique it might be helpful to practice on a scrap piece of wood.
We find it helpful to lightly warm the beeswax bar in your hands 1st to make it easier to spread.
The ingredients are food safe and completely safe for your skin as well!
